BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD

Brief Introduction

My name is Patricia Schlicht and I have been working in Open Education since early 2006.

In 2000, I joined the Commonwealth of Learning (COL), an intergovernmental organisation created by Commonwealth Heads of Government to encourage the development and sharing of open learning and distance education knowledge, resources and technology, and brought my international project management skills from a variety of national and international governments and non-government organizations to COL.

In 2006, I was introduced to the concept of Free/Libre Open Source Software (FLOSS) Movement for the first time, and have since become an open education advocate. When the Learning4Content initiative on WikiEducator (WE) was launched in January 2008, I started facilitating WikEducator’s Learning4Content workshops, and grew quickly into the role of Coordinator and Community Builder on WikiEducator, in an ongoing effort, to build a sustainable global online community of educators/teachers around the world.

I have a passion for learning, and believe that education and access to education should be freely available. I am a skilled and experienced enthusiast using integrated and open technologies, my broad international experiences and strong interests in innovation, to promote open education, raise awareness, and build capacity to create social change.

I am also very much engaged in the Virtual University for Small States of the Commonwealth and eLearning projects at COL.

In collaboration with COL's partners, I was responsible to coordinate the logistics of 6 Regional OER Forums in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and in the Arab States, in preparation for the 1st OER World Congress in France, in June 2012. One of the outcomes was the Paris Declaration. (www.oerworkshops.weebly.com)

My edits and views on WikiEducator therefore do not necessarily represent the views of the Commonwealth of Learning and are made in my personal capacity and advocate for WikiEducator.

Graduation Day-2.jpg
Hello Patricia Madam, on our Wiki Educator Graduation Day, I express my deep sense of gratitude for you and your team. You have made me learn many wiki editing skills and created interest in it. The number of edits I have made during these 10 days is a standing testimony for that. I learnt many things by experimentation. Now I am very much interested to learn advanced wiki editing skills. If possible, I will join another workshop to learn advanced skills or I would like to volunteer my time in helping other learners during workshops, so that I may sharpen my skills also. I will be in touch with you. Warm Regards. --Dr. K S Ramakrishnan 17:09, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

{{Dear K.S, I am glad you enjoyed the workshop. Feel free to come back as often as you would like. Warm wishes --Patricia Schlicht 19:09, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

Dear Patricia, I must share this with you. We are in the midst of our accreditation process. And the team was very pleased with my wiki page. They were impressed by content on teaching skills etc which are being accessed by trainee teachers and others all over the world. The UPE Sept 2010 award too was a plus point. One of them suggested I document the same and send it to our Indian NCERT (National Council of Education Research and training) as it would be accepted as an innovative practice in teacher education. thanks to you for all your support, encouragement and tips as my facilitator...Cynthia D'Costa--Agnes 00:26, 25 March 2011 (UTC)
Re: Dear Cynthia. I am truely happy for you, congratulations. It goes to show what a difference persistence makes and the willingness to put in the effort to want to learn more beyond our initial Learning4Content online training. The credit goes to you alone for all of the above, and I am happy that I could help you along. Warm wishes--Patricia Schlicht 01:10, 25 March 2011 (UTC)

H i Patricia, this is Satarupa,a newbie in wikieductor workshop.I've just completed day &tutorial. But the confusion still persists regarding the participation in existing projects as i'm not finding any suitable existing project to participate in.M oreover don't have much idea of starting my own. Though i've thought of developing free content in Production Management.Could you please guide how can i start it & how to collaborate with others regarding this.Thanks- Satarupa

  • Dear Satarupa. It is not necessarily that you have to find a project to participate in, you could create one of your own and Production management we do not have anything about on WikiEducator, so here we have a good subject that you could explore. Have a look at my user page above, there are some guidelines on how to start a pilot project you could use. Warm wishes--Patricia Schlicht 18:33, 2 August 2010 (UTC)

Madam,Thank you very much for your encouraging words. I am just doing some errors to learn some thing. with regards, raja rao. Not to worry, Raja Rao, we all started like you did. Warm wishes--Patricia Schlicht 18:33, 2 August 2010 (UTC)

How to add signature while writing comments like this?

  • Hi there. You were able to leave me a message here, so when you have the edit tab open, look at the top toolbar (the grey area with all the icons.
