I require an advice for my content develop (1)

Hi Patricia,

I sent a personal message using the Hello Template to 8 new users since last weekend. I have invited them to suscribe to online workshops too. How many people do you recomend to send a welcome message per week? I know that is required to help new users to increase their wiki skills too and I don´t know how many people I could to help with that, this is my concern and the reason of my question.

At this moment I have not had any reply of Wayne regarding to help in translate newbie tutorials into Spanish language. I know I could start to develop a project but I prefer to start with translation works due to I need to know how to develop a project better. I am not a teacher and I need to learn how to develop educational resources first, I think OER handbook is a good source to start with this.

I visited the WE in spanish and I found my username works in this wiki too, but my user page is empty. Do I need to edit a new user page in Spanish too?. Do you know Who is in charge of Spanish WidkiEducator?

Hi Patricia

Thank you very much for certifying me as wiki buddy. I have just noticed this upgradation. As suggested by you I have downloaded open office and preparing some essential attachements for my science process skill project. This workshop experience is unique and I enjoyed every bit and enriched a lot. I am trying to do my best to complete my learning contract on science process skills within the time I promised. Help me in creating 'babel' in my page.

Hi Victor, Nice to hear from you. The best way to access L4C user pages is through the participants lists where it is indicated or create a new list by workshop when you are doing them, listing these. We ourselves haven't figured out how best to collect them and are working on improving this.

Hi Victor, Best way is to create columns on the "Confirmed participants list" asking them to create the link by giving them an example and instructions on how to do this. This way you have it at your finger tip and can also certify them later. Cheers, Patricia

Hey Wayne I worked a little with the structured templates but something isn't working and I can't figure out why. I am trying to allign a few activities under each topic which I want to appear side by side with Vbar inbetween, thereby creating sections. I have create the template for my userpage. You'll see it. Also how come when I enter the link to refer to the culture node that it appears as empty page. Cheers, Patricia

Hi Markos,

Randy forwarded me a message you had sent him through the Wiki talk pages asking about certification. You have already been certified an Apprentice level 2 by Wayne. If you want to go higher you need to fulfill all requirements of a WikiBuddy. See here the levels of requirements: http://www.wikieducator.org/WikiMaster

On another delicate subject: I am not sure how to say this, but the Microsoft Office "How to.." guides you have on your user page should really not be on WikiEducator. This is an free/libre open source software environment, which Microsoft is not and you have lessons on your user page that explains how to use Microsoft software. Our community uses open source software like Open Office, not MS Office. See the link I posted this morning. Hope this helps.

Thank you for your nice words and show me what I need to do about with wiki educator so what should I do to fix this problem about on-line pages, also I would like to told you that about the download files as free ware. I mean that every one can have it all he needs it to download, any how I will wait your reply, and I can remove image that I uploaded. Through the free ware samples any user can find help and know how to use any word processor. Kindly reply to me.

Had another look at your Water Quality Page. within the next few tutorials you will learn how to develop navigation templates, which is what you need to do for the headings on your page but don't worry, you will incorporate this on your content page, as we go along. Your user page is your own page, so you do not need to delete it. You can keep it as a work in progress indicated at the top of your page under Edit as this:

Work in progress, expect frequent changes. Help and feedback is welcome. See discussion page.

. Then save the document and a template will appear on your page.

I think you are asking about your certification. Please write to Wayne at wmackintosh@col.org to request your certification as a Wiki Apprentice.

Thanks for the changes. I was reluctant to add all those headings because the horizontal lines on them seam to cross through the Personal Profile Bax and i think that looks "uncool" (smile). Any suggestions?

I will also loike to know if there is any command i can use to ensure a re-direct of one page to anothere?

I was playing around with it, to see how it looked but didn't have time to finish. You are right with the seams. You will have to put

Just had a quick look at your request for comments re certification policy. One comment:

A WikiArtisan is a multi-skilled and experienced WikiEducator professional who has developed a respectable share of WikiEducator content. DEFINE DEVELOPMENT OF RESPECTABLE SHARE OF WE CONTENT

NOT ALL PEOPLE ON WE ARE EDUCATORS OR WILL EVER BECOME ONE. THE WAY IT IS LAID OUT TODAY, AND BEING A WIKIBUDDY, IT WOULD BE THE HIGHEST LEVEL A PERSON LIKE MYSELF COULD EVER REACH AS I DO NOT DESIGN LEARNING CONTENTS (WELL, I COULD BUT IT MIGHT HAVE SOME WHOLES SOMEBODY ELSE WOULD HAVE TO FIX, AN EDUCATOR OR LEARNING DESIGNER)

iF A WikiArtisan is well-versed with learning design requirements, quality assurance procedures; AND the values of the free knowledge community (which a person like myself would be too, how do we cover the 1000s of people like myself?? in this process. Are we stopping them in their tracks by certifying them never to become WikiArtisans, if they have to be Educators like you say? Anybody can grow, can't they?

You say that a WikiArtisan has earned this status through demonstrated contributions to the community (I surely satisfy this requirement), the attainment of a high level of proficiency in wiki skills (I would consider myself well versed but there is still a lot to be learned) and an intimate understanding of the values underpinning our community (I do understand the work the values underpinning the community and learn sthg new every day).
