Three Variations
There are three categories for designing the hair weave look. For this activity you will need to access a manikin head using long hair which has been freshly washed or clean and dry. You are invited to try all of the techniques once you have seen the student and teacher demonstrations.
- 1st look Bronte Kent’s photographic weave on blonde hair dry clean hair, using the side weave technique. This weave is continuously taken from one side and continuously woven from the starting point.
- 2nd look Jodie Knight’s wet weave and styling products, using the side weave technique is a contemporary look, modern in style and design. This weave is continuously taken from one side and continuously woven from the starting point.
- 3rd look Katrina Hatfield’s double sided weave on dry hair. In this braid, sections are taken from both sides of the head, continuously moving from one side to the other (just like basket weaving).
Your task
For the following activities you will need:
- A manikins head and clamp plus styling products, tail comb, elastics.
- You will need to include a few step by step pictures after you have had some practice runs. Use a picture for each category once you have completed each category. Add your photos to this wiki on your personal page in your photo gallery.
- You will need to label the style; whether it represents 1st weave (dry hair), 2nd weave (wet look) or 3rd weave (double sided).
- Describe how you created each of your gallery weave looks, include the techniques and products for the hairstyle.
- All of this information needs to be stored on your wiki page in your gallery portfolio.
Activity
You will be asked to CREATE three of the research looks. You can design your manikin hair however you would like to accentuate the weave, for example Bronte chose to have her weave across the face. You can have the weave starting at the crown, curl the remainder of the hair and create an up style that frames the weave or have something more simple.
