If you plan to complete the assessment tasks so you can get credit for Unit Standard 2780, please also read the material in the Assessment overview.

The course schedule below provides you with suggested timeframes for completing this course, based on around 30 hours in total. How long you spend on each section is up to you, so the suggested times below are just a guide.

Remember to take regular breaks, especially when working on a computer! You shouldn't try to complete any unit in one sitting.

Unit 1: Hardware
This unit is an introduction to the physical parts of a computer.

Unit 2: Software
This unit is an introduction to the programs that tell the computer what to do and how to do it.

Time: around 6 hours

Unit 3: Printing
This unit covers how to operate a printer and produce a print-out or hard copy version of a file.

Time: around 4 hours

Unit 4: Operation and Maintenance
This unit covers how to connect and operate a computer safely, keep it clean and protected, and be able to identify simple faults.

Time: around 5 hours

Unit 5: Ergonomics This unit explains how to create a safe and comfortable computer workstation.
