WORKING WITH COMMUNITY/REPORT FROM SUNPURA
Working with Community camp was organized in Vidisha distrct, which is 60 km away from Bhopal. Students of B Sc B Ed I year and 2 years B Ed were participated in this camp. Three villages of Vidisha districts were selected for this camp. These villages were Bais Nagar, Ganeshpura and Sunpura. Base Nagar and Ganeshpura were 6 km away and Sunpura was 9 km away from Vidisha. Around 120 students of two year B Ed (I&II year) had done their work in Sunpura which is very near to the famous Udaiygiri Hills. Soil:Madhopura Soil is rich for agriculture purposes as the soil found here blackish and reddish in color. In rainy season soyabin and in October November wheat is also produced. They also produce vegetables for their consumption. Height:Madhopura is situated in the down part of udaygiri hills having a height of 800m from sea level. Rainfall: The village receives a annual rainfall of 100 to 200cm and agriculture is totally based on rainfall and Betwa river. Temperature: The average temperature of Madhopura village during summer is nearly 20 to 24 degree Celsius because of Udaygiri hills while in cold it receives severe cold with the average temperature of nearly 7 to 15 degree Celsius.
DAILY ROUTINE OF THE CAMP
PRABHAT PHERIOn the first day i.e., 16th Dec. 07, when we arrived at Sunpura village, all the villagers were surprised, even boys and girls were roaming around us for knowing the reason of our arrival to their village. Firstly, a Prayer was conducted in an open place. Then we started our rally, with Slogans and Banners. Our slogans were based on Education, Health & Hygiene, Women Empowerment and Effect of Overpopulation, e.g.,
our first day’s rally was based on Smoking. On second day, after the Morning Prayer, we continued with rally which was based on Health & Hygiene. Our third day of the trip started with the Prayer and Rally, which was based on Environmental Issues.
SHRAMDAANThen at 07:30 a.m. we reached in front of the School, there we were divided into different groups; each group was provided with different work as Shramdan. Cleaning of Road, Leveling of Ground, etc., were some of the work given to us as Shramdan. On second day our shramdan was in Madhavpura village, which is nearby the Sunpura village. Our shramdan included the cleanliness of the surrounding area of a community water supply hand-pump which was very dirty and unhygienic. On third day, before shramdan we practiced an exercise of Kung-fu, for two hours then we continued our Interview and Case study in the village.
COMMUNITY GAMEAfter this Program, we all gathered for our Lunch. After the Lunch, we had a discussion on the existing condition of the village and its members. As it was our first day so we needed to establish a communication and good rapport with the villagers, to meet the objective of our survey. We had a communal game with the members of village for rapport establishment with the villagers. For this purpose we had a Cricket Match with the children and youngsters of the village. It was an interesting match, won by the boys of our team. In this process, we established a good rapport with the villagers, meanwhile we talked with the other members of the village i.e., the children and women of the village. All these were an initiative for our further communication with the villagers and to perform our survey, case study and interviews. On second day after completing our survey in the village, we gathered again for the Community Game. As we got familiar with the villagers so it was now easy to gather the children and the youths for the community game, as the children of the village were fond of playing cricket, so we again had a cricket match.
CULTURAL ACTIVITIES
The villagers also enjoyed a lot and we got closer to the villagers. The Cultural Activities for second day were based on prohibition of smoking and drinking habits of the villagers. They were-

And the day completed with the Review Meeting.
REVIEW MEETINGAt 07:30 p.m., we were back and had our dinner at Vidisha. Then after a break of about one hour we had a Review Meeting based on our whole day’s work. In this meeting, we presented our group wise information about the respective village and shared the information collected by different groups. At the end of the day, again all the groups shared their reports among themselves.
