About Myself

I am Prof. S. M.Sawant, teaching Economics in L.S.Raheja College,Department of Economics which I had joined in July 1985. I had started my teaching career in Social Welfare Education Center,Worali ,Mumbai since 1972. Thus Teaching ,earning and learning at a same time and completed own education.Worked as an research Assistant in Area studies, African economies, under DR. Ramchandani,in 1982-83,on project Indo-African Trade Relations. Then joined Govt. of Maharashtra I.Y.College,Arts Commerce and Science, Jogeswari (E) Mumbai. in July,1983 - June 1985.

Educational qualification

I did B.A.(Hons) in Economics (special )in 1978 and M.A. in Economics, Monetory Economics and International Trade as optional papers, from Deparetment of Economics University of Mumbai, in 1982. I completed my M.Phil 1991, from Department of Economics, University of Mumbai At present I am doing Ph D in Dept. of Economics Topic: "Institutional Finance and Economic Development" (A case Study of Konkan Region )

My Hobbies

I like to travel in Rural India and know more about the diversities of Indian cultures, I like to read books on educational philosophy. I belive in psycological development along with the funtional development of Students.I like to work with average and below average students, Specialy with drop-out and educational mental block'.Most of the time I conclud by own obervation and guessing. I am the founder member of Charitable TrustSawant Foundationwhich works for the awerness of people regarding govt policies, schemes, programmes.I am also the life member of TheCenter for the Study of Cultural Change .
