A Level 1 WikiApprentice is a WikiEducator who can perform basic edits on WikiEducator pages and is able to explain what a wiki is and how it works. The Newbie survey provides us with some relevant statistics on those joining our community so that we can provide community members with the environment and tools that enable them to create quality open educational resources. Completing the survey will provide evidence towards mastery of this level. The survey should only take you around 5 minutes to complete. Click the link now if you are ready to complete the survey.
2. User page
In order to communicate effectively it is often useful to have a sense of the people we are communicating with. Finding common ground is often the key to valuable collaborative experiences. Here in WikiEducator our biggest advantage is that the majority of us here with the same basic common goals, that is, we are either looking for quality open resources, we want to share our work with others and we want to make education accessible to everyone. We also come with unique differences which when woven together have the potential to produce resources with depth, colour and richness.
Your task is to use your User Page to describe your unique world so that those you connect with here, might experience a little of your world. The registration form you completed prior to attending this workshop provided prompts to describe your world. You may wish to use some of this information in your description.
3. Wiki concept
Having begun your wiki experience what benefits can you see to being able to use this tool in your work, local or global community? Complete one of the following tasks and post a link on your userpage:
- Write a project brief describing how you could use wikieducator within a local project.
- Write an article for a magazine/newsletter styled publication describing the wiki concept and how people can become involved
- Set up a workshop and invite interested parties by briefly describing the wiki concept and outlining what participants might expect to learn.
- Post a story in your blog about wiki.
