The course schedule below provides you with suggested timeframes for completing this course, based on around 30 hours in total. How long you spend on each section is up to you, so the suggested times below are just a guide.

Remember to take regular breaks, especially when working on a computer! You shouldn't try to complete any unit in one sitting.

Unit Overview Topics
Unit 1:
Spreadsheet basics
This section provides an introduction to spreadsheets and how to operate them.

Time: around 5 hours

Unit 2:
Spreadsheet design
Developing an effective spreadsheet requires careful planning.

This section provides guidance on how to go about planning a spreadsheet, as well as the skills you'll need to manage spreadsheet layout and structure.

While the instructions are specifically tailored for Microsoft Excel, the process is easily applicable to other software tools such as Open Office, which includes a free and open source spreadsheet application.

Time: around 5 hours


Unit 3:
Spreadsheet calculations
This section covers a range of calculation types using both formulas and functions.

Time: around 15 hours


Unit 4:
Charts
This section deals with how to create effective charts (graphs) to present information visually.

Time: around 5 hours
