Hi to my Discussion page | 5 | 17:41, 2 August 2010 |
Hi Michael,
Congrats on being this month's recipient of the UPE award. I enjoyed visiting your page and learning about your work and contributions. Very inspiring.
Your wikineighbor, Alison
Thanks Alison I know you also work very hard in the OER space also. I wish I had more time to work on OER things but have to try and balance all the things I have/like to do :) Michael
Instead of wrapping content directly with a div:
<div style="font-family: menu,Arial;border: 1px solid #808080; width: 96%; margin-right:auto;margin-left:auto;background-color: #99FF99;-webkit-box-shadow: 5px 5px 7px #999;"> ... </div>
You might want to create a template to remove some of the repetition:
{{:User:Mverhaart/Shadowbox|background=#99FF99|content=blah blah blah}}
where the User:Mverhaart/Shadowbox was something like (meaning untested :-)
<div style="font-family: menu,Arial;border: 1px solid #808080; width: 96%; margin-right:auto;margin-left:auto;background-color: {{{background}}};-webkit-box-shadow: 5px 5px 7px #999;"> {{{content}}} </div>
Hi Jim (I suspect its you!!)
Agreed. Actually I did some of the content while I was learning to use the wiki code and as always you learn progressively. If you look at http://wikieducator.org/VirtualMV/JavaScript/Starting/Basics I use
<.. JS Code here ..
I am cutting n pasting from my virtualmv.com/wiki and one day I'll get round to fixing all the random ones :)
Michael
When it comes to WIKI U r like an artist.Your PINBOARD is just fascinating which I have tried to copy.
A request... visit my pages designed for MU OER PORTAL & give me feedback for improvement.I badly need mentoring from you.
Thanks & Best regards...Sujata
Hi Sujata Sorry have not got back to you sooner, as I do not monitor my message page in WikiEducator (It hasn't worked for me for ages). Are you still working on this project? Cheers Mverhaart 00:26, 6 April 2013 (UTC)
Turn on the LQTemail setting on the Gadgets tab of your Preferences page and you will be emailed when a thread changes on a page you are watching.
Thanks Jim As you probably see I am starting the process of transferring my wiki over to WikiEducator. Will build under a virtualMV branch. We are going to put up one content block first (on JavaScript) and probably a course framework to go with it.
I have had a wave of new users/content spamming on my wiki so need to think about a better way to manage the wiki-ing and have a more permanent backup (my user list is now greater than 22,000 and the wiki-spam has gone over 1.5GB!). Hopefully you will see a lot more activity from me (and Stephanie Day also) as we create courses/content.
Cheers Michael (& Steph)
Hi Michael
Need your help desperately.
Why my pinboard for MU OER PORTAL is catching your messages and so it is reversely with your board.
Best Regards
A small doubt about giving links to my learning resourses [edit]
Dear Michael,
It's my pleasure to be a part of this wonderful and highly innovative group of eminent educators .I have been giving free classes online in areas of Psychology,Educational Psychology and English.I would like to share those classes as a part of the free content /lesson plan that I developed for WE.These classes are extremely useful for prospective teachers and trainers in the field of education.I wanted to clear a doubt whether I should provide the complete video lecture through uploading it in to WE or is it ok to give the link to that website ?
I know you have been very inspirational to people like me through your constant encouragement throughout the workshop along with other facilitators like Patricia Schlicht.Thank you for your continued support to raise us to higher levels of competency .I would like to actively participate in the coming sessions and to attain wikibuddy certificate during this workshop. Thanks again .Your Wikineighbour .Balqis
Dear wikiuser,
I am attempting content on the topic Multimedia. please suggest the following:
- Division of topics and subtopics.
- Topics which can be added and links for content
- How content should be presented?
- Any suggestion to make it better.
Wikieducator is a woderful Authoring platform. Collabration, content sharing, advice is the key. Please help this wikineighbour. The link is Multimedia Course --Ravi limaye 00:13, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

Dear Michael, You are a very fast learner & as your facilitator I am proud of your progress. I talked about your page in Benjamin's live Wiziq session on 29th. You may see the recoding on the workshop links. You are a Natural WE, Great show. CHEERS!--Dr. Gita Mathur 14:16, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
Hi Gita, I have been working with MediaWiki for a while now, so I guess I've had some prior knowledge. Its still amazing what you can pick up on training courses as there are always things to learn. I haven't used the Rich Editor before and picked up small things along the way - which have added to my wiki knowledge. Thank you for your mentoring.-04:38, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
Hi Michael - I'm adding a message here to meet my Tutorial 8 requirements, but I have cruised around your site and I have learned so much just by seeing what you have done, and how you have done it. You are an inspiration! How to you get coloured text? I can find any icon that helps me do this. See you f2f before too long hopefully. Cheers! --Deb Stewart 11:15, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
Hi Deb, Unfortunately you cannot use the rich text editor for coloured text. If you go into the wiki editor you can use the div tag to colour text. e.g.
- <div style="color: blue;">the text in blue </div> which produces
- the text in blue
