Tehmina at work

Hi! My name is Tehmina Gladman. I am a Texan, married to a British Australian living in New Zealand.

Professional background

I am currently working for Massey University as an academic developer focussing on training staff in the use of Stream (the Massey implementation of Moodle) as a tool for enhancing student learning. Previously, I worked for 7 1/2 years as a lecturer in psychology at Miyazaki International College, a four-year liberal arts university in Southern Japan.

Education

I have a PhD in Experimental psychology. My research areas are:

• social psychology
• cross-cultural psychology
• intercultural communications
• human sexuality

I also have an MSc in Research Methods in Psychology

My interests

Professional

I am interested in the use of technology in the classroom and in student motivation to learn. My research has included looking at what makes people choose to communciate in a foreign language, student motivaito to learn languages, and the use of intercultural communication theory to inform sojourner training resources.

Personal

I love reading, and will read almost anything. To see a list of my recent reads and what I am currently reading visit My Booklist.

Pets are an important part of my life as well. My husband and I have two cats we rescued while living in Japan.

Finally, I enjoy exploring my new home of New Zealand, and whenever the weather is good, we like to jump in the car and check out one of the many regional parks around Auckland.

Agreement	By signing this optional learning contract I will try to complete my training in basic wiki editing skills to achieve the status of a Wikibuddy. In return for this free training opportunity, I will give the gift of knowledge by donating or developing at least one free content resource licensed under a CC-BY-SA or CC-BY license which can be used by myself (and others) on WikiEducator.
Brief description of project	I would like to develop an OER for instructors to use to teach the basic concepts of self as defined by social psychology.
Target date for completion	31 December 2010.
