Test ...
Yes, but only if you have enabled LQTemail on the Gadgets tab of your Special:Preferences. Then you will get notifications if you have an authenticated email address and have a watch on the parent page of the talk page the discussion happens on. Complete details: WikiEducator:Liquid_Threads
Is there any way to get a link to "unwatch" within the outgoing alert email -
I've gotten tons - well, it seems like tons - of emails notifying me of changes to the page.
Apologies - that was probably all the tests with various combinations of watching the page and/or the thread.
Not sure. The watch/unwatch link at the top of the page seems to disappear.
One way to unwatch the entire page is to edit the discussion page header (the first edit link above) and change something trivial (e.g. add a '.' or a space somewhere or even change nothing) and de-select "Watch this page" before saving. - Kim Tucker 23:52, 9 November 2010 (UTC)
That sounds like a bug if that changes the watch state of the parent page.
If you click on the from part of the a fragment of a discussion from User talk:KTucker (meaning the User talk:KTucker part of this example) you will be taken to the Talk page. If you click on the tab to the left of the Discussion tab (which might be Page or User depending on the namespace) you are taken to the parent page that the Talk page belongs to. The Watch/Unwatch setting is beneath the disclosure triangle to the right of View history (or has a tab heading to itself if you are using the old Monobook skin).
Kim - greetings. Thanks for the link to Libre knowledge on the New release. Haven't had a chance to do this yet. Please take a look at the newbie tutorial on free content & see where best to add this link. From the airport in transit --Mackiwg 23:30, 21 February 2007 (CET)

Hello, Kim - saw your comment on the Developer Roadshows on Talk:Summer_Of_Content_Proposal. It sounds great, and I'd like to learn more about it and what could be done to revive it - it might make a great series of SoCon projects with interns and mentors throughout Africa, especially if we broadened it to focus on free culture and content as well as code. Do you have time to chat either via email (mel at laptop dot org), irc, or phone (847.970.8484 - I'm in Boston, GMT-5) about this sometime as a potential big push for the upcoming southern summer session?
Also, apologies we didn't get to connect over lunch at Wikimania - I think we ate precisely out of sync with each other that day. But I'd love to talk with you about this and other things - perhaps on IRC, if you pop in there on occasion. I'm usually on freenode with the nick mchua, most active on #olpc-content and #olpc (but also on #wikipedia, #wikiversity, #cc, and others).
Drop me an email, and we'll figure out a way to talk. Thanks! Mchua 09:05, 14 August 2007 (CEST)

Thanks for adding category Africa to the Akan pages --Phil Bartle 13:55, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
I was admiring your userpage and really like how you are using dropdown boxes. Can you direct me to a tutorial that explains how to code dropdown boxes, please?
Thanks! --Benjamin Stewart 14:50, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
Hi Benjamin, Apologies for the delay. I learned by viewing the source code on other pages using them. This may be tricky if the code is embedded in a template. Here is a relevant help page.
Hi Kim, Just thought I'd say hello. I checked your website and noticed your interest in triathlon. Are you actively participating in races?
Warm wishes,

Data Dumps[edit]
- Is this possible? e.g. to be able to use and access a snapshot of WikiEducator in a lab with no Internet access. This would also be useful for demo purposes and tutorials in such low/zero-bandwidth situations. Thanks Ktucker 11:02, 3 September 2007 (CEST)
- If you add the link to your favorites, in the process (at least in Explorer) there is a check box to make content available offline. If you then click customize you can elect to also have linked pages available offline and you can choose how deep the linkage can be (2 or three pages deep for example). Thanks - but this would not work for an interactive demo and hands on tutorial.
The idea is to have a complete installation of WikiEducator to serve up on a local network.
I understand there is work going on to allow delayed synchs ... e.g. if we did have people updating a local installation, and connectivity became available intermittently (as is quite common in Africa for example) the system would accommodate synchronisation. Although simple for entirely new pages, for frequently edited pages the enhancement would require a means of allowing people to select from multiple possible edit paths retrospectively. A challenging project! Kim 15:35, 2 December 2007 (CET)
Kim: Definitely a challenging project ... but one that came up multiple times during the Tectonic Shift Think Tank in April this year. Could also allow for offline editing as well. Currently there is not an easily downloadable version of WikiEd content, but perhaps there should be.
Kim,
Next week I'm running an online Wiki skills training workshop for the Pacific region. You may know of one or two folk in SA who would like to join as "observers" - The idea being people who would be keen to facilitate similar training sessions in Southern Africa.
An open invitation.
