Respected Sir. Hello, I am a new user. I donot understand what is the problem in my userpage. I cant open my user page. please help (Sumeet Gupta participant no 100) (Comment.gif: Dear Sumeet, please log into WikiEducator with your user id and password, that should do it. Let us know if this worked for you. Warm wishes--Patricia Schlicht 16:16, 23 September 2011 (UTC)) Thanks Patricia madam, I have logged in. How can I add my introduction with other paticipants? How can i share my material or links with others. Please help?
(Comment.gif: Hi Sumeet. You go to "edit" on the page you are in. Look for where you want to insert your comments - under your own or somebody else's comments. See how other people have done this and do it exactly like them. Don't forget to SAVE you input, otherwise it won't show. The other option is to "preview" your page before saving it. You are done. By using the back button, twice, you are back on the page where you came from. Hope this helps. Warm wishes--Patricia Schlicht 18:39, 23 September 2011 (UTC))  (Comment.gif: Sir , Can you guide me fo content and topics on http://wikieducator.org/Multimedia_Course --Ravi limaye 01:19, 30 September 2011 (UTC))   Queries on use of WIKI with students
I would like to clarify that I can call myself a new user to Wiki's  although I have previously participated as a contributor to a WIKI- using PBWIKI. So, my question relates to the best way (or a more straight forward way for students) to use WIKI with students in a classroom setup, for instance, in way that I am able to set up individual pages for each student. When I used the PBWIKI 'as a user' the pages had been set up for us and so one could go straight to a page without worrying whether one is posting on the right place.

Hi Joyce, with a little careful thinking, it is possible to set up a boilerplate text, that is to preload the headings, subheadings and structure of a page. So for example, the outline of a worksheet or a project. Here is an example for a preloaded lesson plan template. Using mediawiki features, the text required for a page can be preloaded into the edit window. The user then clicks on the save page button and the boilerplate text is save on the page. Someone at your school with a little web knowledge will be able to set this up. --Wayne Mackintosh 01:57, 24 September 2011 (UTC)

Another question I have is whether there is a way to have student make their draft content in WIKI pages invisible to others and later make it open to others as they build their confidence that their thinking is valuable to others or at most does not expose their limited understanding. I am asking this because these are some of the concerns that students express when they have to share their work in progress (to elicit formative feedback from others) as they write term papers or bibliographies on topical content. Your tips will be useful to me. --Joyce 01:43, 24 September 2011 (UTC)Joyce Wangui

That's a good question. Wiki's are about openness, collaboration and sharing of ideas. Students who are afraid of working openly, should use technologies which are designed for "closed" work. Eg a word processor. When the student wants to openly share their work, at that point they can upload it in the wiki. That said, learning to collaborate in an open wiki space is an important digital skill, hence the power of using wiki technology in the classroom. --Wayne Mackintosh 02:01, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
