Profile

Hello and Namastey!! I, Avernita Srivastava, Asst. Professor, Apeejay Stya University, Sohna-Palwal Rd. Gurgaon, have an experience of nearly four years in the academic vicinity. Got my graduation done in 2005, and then post graduation (M.Sc. Textiles and Clothing) from the University of Delhi, Institute of Home Economics in 2008. Cleared U.G.C NET in 2010. My first job assignment was as an Asst. Designer for a Home Furnishing export house in New Delhi, on the basis of campus selection in 2008 from the college. After that, I joined as a lecturer in 2008, at V.M.L.G. (P.G) College, Ghaziabad, affiliated to C.C.S. University for U.G and P.G. classes. Here I actively organized, designed and choreographed several fashion shows under different themes. I also got the opprtunity to participate in formatting the syllabus of M.Sc. Textiles and Clothing for C.C.S. University for the session 2010-11 onward. Post that, in 2011; I joined APEEJAY Stya University, as an Assistant Professor for Bachelor of Fashion Technology. Have presented papers in various seminars, conferences and participated in several national and international workshops. Currently I managed to bag the award of best research poster, at the 8th International Conference for Apparel and Home Textile 2012, organized by O.G.T.C.

Best Research Poster Award in the ‘8th International Conference on Apparel and Home Textiles’, 2012, organized by O.G.T.C. at National Habitat Centre, New Delhi.
‘Dr. Chitra Arora’s Best Dissertation prize in Textiles and Clothing’ 2007-08, Institute of Home Economics, University of Delhi.
Award and special certificate for First Prize in Flames Fashion Show as Designer during Melange- 2006 organised by Institute of Home Economics, University of Delhi.

About my Current Work

At present am working with the School of Design and Visual Arts, at Apeejay Stya University, as an Assistant Professor for Bachelor of Fashion Technology.This school was started in the year 2010. It offers courses at Bachelors and Masters level.

Its curriculum includes two levels of study for undergraduates:

Foundation
Specialization

The foundation course in Bachelor of Design and Technology is a one year preparatory course for school-leavers to bridge the gap between the qualifications they have and those they need to have for this bachelor’s degree course in Design. This is offered for the 1st and 2nd semester.
From IIIrd semester onwards, the course proceeds to specialization offerings. The specializations existing in Bachelor of Design and Technology at the University comprises of -

Fashion Design
Residential Design and
Digital Media

My area of specialization includes Fashion Design.
Other than the course curriculum of Fashion Design, I also take up a core course titled Food and Fashion - For A Complete Persona Media:FOOD_AND_FASHION.pdf

Personal

I live in New Delhi with my family including my parents, brother and a pet dog (Great Dane). My extended family is in Lucknow. I am a dog loving person. My pet Gama is such a tension buster for me. I love my dog and adore my family.
