I have been working with Dr. Wayne Mackintosh, the founder of WikiEducator since the get go of the initiative, in May of 2006. I have since then gradually increased my understanding, skills and involvement in Open Education and the use of and integration of open source software. It has been a privilege to see how one country after another has made use of this technology to make a difference in their own environment. WikiEducator has become the most exciting experience of my professional career. I am passionate about learning. I actively facilitate online workshops on WikiEducator as community volunteer in my spare time, in an attempt to build capacity for WikiEducator around the globe. I am interested in social networking, culture/anthropology, open and distance learning/eLearning, community and capacity building. I am a philanthropist.

Sherma Joseph

I would like to express my excitement at joining this community. I am sure that this environment would broaden the activities available to the learners at my Institute.
Re: Hi Sherma. You are joining a large global community of Educators around the world who welcomes you to our Wiki family. Welcome aboard. Warm wishes--Patricia Schlicht 01:43, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

Marcia Joseph

I am eager to learn how to introduce more dynamic ways to engage my students. As an Language and Literature I must always look for ways to keep students interested and involved. This workshop is a means of expanding my technological skills. I hope to learn a great deal so that I may keep up with my students.
Re: Hi Marcia, Just like you there are many educators in our community who are here for the same reason and they use WikiEducator in the classroom. As we go along, you will learn more about them, so we can learn from each other. Welcome to WikiEducator. Warm wishes--Patricia Schlicht 01:45, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

Hi everyone --- WikiEudcator represents a return the core values of education, namely to share knowledge freely. Its great to participate in this milestone workshop, our first online workshop since we implemented Rich Text Editing this weekend. This is a great opportunity to trail our new tutorials for Wysiwyg editing --- they're still first edition tutorials, so we welcome feedback.  Learning4Content (these free workshops) is the world's largest attempt to develop wiki skills in education. Spread the word among colleagues and friends so that we can make open content furtures happen :-)
(Comment.gif: Hi Wayne. Thank you for coming in, and you are right, Rich Text Editing is a big help to everyone and will make things a lot easier. Warm wishes, --Patricia Schlicht 19:04, 12 February 2010 (UTC))

I am a special education teacher and Master of Arts in Education. I work with children with autistic spectrum disorders at the Kilonpuisto school Espoo, Finland. I have a SmartBoard in my classroom and I use social media almost every day in my teaching. I love to learn new things in this wonderful world. In education we have to move from memorization to creative knowledge production. It's time to change schools for a better future were teachers and students work together creating new knowledge with the help of purposeful technologies.
(Comment.gif: Hi Tero. Great to see you here as well. I could not imagine my life without the use of integrated technologies. Warm wishes --Patricia Schlicht 19:04, 12 February 2010 (UTC))

Hello to all. I am very impressed with the Rich Text editing interface integratoin to the mediawiki. Not much because I find it a better procedure to work in a wiki, but because I've met with strong resistance from educators to adopt wiki as an online workspace even though they concieve is a great tool. They feel or fear that learning the wiki tags is just something that it will take to much time to invest. The html editor can be a response for those fears, and work with both procedures can expand engagement from educators to learn both authoring/editing procedures. I want to expand all these Wikieducator guidelines to apply them in another open education initiative called Sugar and the local Sugar Lab in Chile, where teacher collaboration network is a big desire to concrete around the pilot deployment programmed this year. I also expecto to contribute some resources built in this wrkshop to cotribute to the spanish version of Wikieducator. Let's have fun!!!
(Comment.gif: Hello Werner. You are so right, it is fun. WikiEducator comes with a health warning - hightly addictive (smile!). Warm wishes --Patricia Schlicht 19:04, 12 February 2010 (UTC))

Patricia Castriota

I live in Jamaica in Kingston When I registered I was not quite sure how this tool worked. Three days in and having discovered the concept of OER, I feel as if a whole new aspect of educating and education has been opened up to me. Looking forward to the rest of the course.
(Comment.gif: Hello Patricia. You express exactly what this course normally does, it is an eye-opener. Great you could be here. Ask as many questions as you like. We are here to help. Warm wishes --Patricia Schlicht 19:04, 12 February 2010 (UTC))

Hi I am from Jamaica. I am a senior lecturer at the Mico University College. I entered this workshop not knowing what to expect! It seemed daunting at first but became fun in an addictive way! I have been enjoying the daily sessions. My major drawback has been "time", and this will always be an issue when balancing work and study. I am learning to do a lot of things in this workshop....

My understanding and skills in working with wiki pages has grown in leaps and bounds!!
