Suggestion for refining the inventory of OERs | 1 | 13:44, 18 November 2014 |
Hi Sarah,
Impressive work!
A few thoughts:
- I would recommend a license column where the user can distinguish between Free Cultural Works licenses (CC-BY and CC-BY-SA) an other open access materials. This helps to know which resources can be embedded in the OERu materials for remix versus those which we can only link to.
- In previous courses, I've developed, I've also found that its useful to work on the inventory of existing OER at the individual learning pathway level. Saves sifting through a long list when working on an individual learning pathways. mmm - something we should think about.
Thanks Wayne. I think a licence column would be an easy fix - good idea.
In terms of when you do the OER audit, we needed to do it early to get a sense of what might be around and to see if there was a text book or good set of open journal articles for example. But at that time although we were clear about some of the key topics, we didn't have the order of learning ie learning pathways sorted. Actually we're still refining the module structure and order. At this point I agree, we need to have a look at the OERs again, and in some ways just putting out a call and getting feedback will be a good time to look at the collection again - particularly if anybody has anything new to add. But I'd call that part of the iterative design process, and it doesn't bother me if we have another go at it.
