Striving for gold

The ask.oeruniversity community gives you awards for your participation in the community. These awards include a number of badges which can be earned for various activities according to the specified criteria for the individual badges.

Badges are awarded for your questions, answers and votes. Academic volunteers aim to achieve gold, the highest award in our community. Gold badges require you to show profound knowledge and ability in addition to your active participation in our community.

Badges are displayed publicly on your Userpage which can be viewed by any member of the community.

• Show you where you can access a full list of the badges currently available in the ask.oeruniversity community, and
• Introduce the levels of badges you can achieve.

Example badges

There are over 30 different badges community participants can earn. The table below provides an illustrative sample of a few community badges and the qualifying criteria to earn them. Many badges require a higher level of community trust and should be read in conjunction with the karma points system. For example, the Editor Badge listed below, will need 75 karma points before acquiring editing rights on the ask.oeruniversity software.

Citizen Patrol	First flagged post
Enthuisiast	Visited site every day for 5 days in a row
Good answer	Contributor's answer voted up 3 times
Great answer	Contributor's answer voted up 5 times
Guru	Answer accepted with more than 5 votes
Good question	Contributor's question voted up 2 times
Great question	Contributors question voted up 5 times

Badge levels

There are three levels of badges:

• Bronze: Frequently awarded as a special honor for appropriate activity in the community
• Silver: These badges are occasionally awarded for the high quality contributions
• Gold: Badges are the highest award in this community. To obtain them you have to show profound knowledge and ability in addition to your active participation.

A full list of all the badges available and the number of times they have been awarded in the community can be accessed by clicking on the badges link displayed on the top right-hand side of your browser screen.

Remember, that you can obtain more detailed information about your badges and other activity in the community by visiting your Userpage accessed by clicking on your username link on the top right-hand side of your browser screen when logged in. You can also view the badges earned by other users on their respective userpages. Click on the people link displayed on the top right-hand side of your browser window and select the User page you would like to view.
