Prospective learners: Scene 2.0 - Why?
Couple of thoughts on the scene:
- When depicting the learning scenarios scene we must be cognizant and sensitive of the fact that many learners will be residing in the developing world - so one scene should be a developing world context, i.e. emphasising the text of "anywhere in the world".
- Learning is hard work - how will a beach scene impact on the target audience? (Not saying that learning shouldn't be fun ;-))
No problem, we are sketching a range of backgrounds to use throughout both clips. Any ideas you all have for a Developing World background would be useful.
Thoughts on the courses
- For this iteration, I think we should focus on the OERu first year of study - once we have a full curriculum, we can revise the tag cloud sequence at a later date.
- What about the notion of "try before you buy" - that is if you are new to university or polytechnic study that you can experience what university study is like.
We will drop the tag cloud idea and have amended the script.
Academic awards and credentials are conferred by the partner institutions. OERu branding is a high priority, but we must avoid confusion for learners thinking that the OERu awards the credential. Its more about how the OERu enables you to achieve credentials through recognised institutions.
I have added a clarification to the visual story in scene 3.2 showing the steps for new learners.

When showing different scenes (beach, bus, kitchen) keep in mind different age groups and cultural backgrounds. Be culturally inclusive and appeal to mature learners.
We will provide a range of 'real world' study scenarios - feel free to share any other ideas.
