- WikiEducator Community Council (WCC) has decided to establish a Community Workgroup to discuss and draft amendments to the Interim Open Community Governance Policy with specific instruction to:
- Discuss, consider and implement the Minor Points drafted by Kim Tucker
- Discuss and consider amendments with reference to the office of Patron of WikiEducator.
- To update the policy with regard to organisational affiliation, for instance, references to the Commonwealth of Learning, for example in 4.5.4 bullet point 5 reads upholds the Commonwealth values; which will need to be ammended.
- Extend an open invitation to all Council members to consider joining the Workgroup for revising, updating and refining the Interim Open Community Governance Policy.
- To present the amended policy for approval at the next Community Council Meeting.
- A Learning4Content online workshop is scheduled to be conducted from September 21, to October 2, 2009. Please spread the word and invite participants to register here. The workshop will be facilitated by Patricia Schlicht and Nellie Deutsch.

The Open Education Resource (OER) Foundation was officially launched on 17 September 2009 by Dr Robin Day, Chair of the board of Directors of the OER Foundation. The OER Foundation is a new not-for-profit organisation that will assist education institutions in New Zealand and around the world to reduce costs through open education resources. These are materials which educators are free to reuse, adapt and modify without restriction. WikiEducator Community Council (WCC) has approved a Policy for Community Workgroups. The purpose of the policy and supporting guidelines for Community Workgroups is to:
- ensure and promote open, transparent and community-based collaboration for guiding the evolution of the WikiEducator initiative
- distinguish between Community Workgroups and Project Workgroups which are constituted for supporting project and content collaborations in WikiEducator
- help and support WikiEducator members to establish Community Workgroups
- provide minimum criteria for the establishment of Community Workgroups whose outputs can be tabled for consideration and approval by the WikiEducator Community Council

Thompson Rivers University, in Kamloops BC is hosting a FREE three-day workshop, Research 2.0: New Technologies for Scholarship. The workshop will take place from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2 at Thompson Rivers University, in Kamloops BC. Dr. Wayne Mackintosh (September 2) and Nellie Deutsch (September 1) will be presenting. Nellie's workshop will be conducted live online on September 1, 2009 and will be available for all participants around the world.
