COL PROTEIN
The Commonwealth of Learning (COL) Poverty Reduction Outcomes Through Education Innovations and Networks (PROTEIN) programme aims to support innovative uses of open and dis-tance learning (ODL) to address poverty alleviation in rural and peri-urban areas. In particular, COL-PROTEIN is seeking to support initiatives that will adopt open and distance learning and information and communication technologies (ICT) to help build capacity under the following areas:
- Food and Nutritional Security
- Environmental Protection
- Rural and Peri-Urban Development
- Functional Literacy for Livelihoods
- Micro-Enterprise
COL PROTEIN is committed to support innovative initiatives that use ODL/ICT- mediated learning to reduce poverty. The primary intention of COL-PROTEIN is to encourage applicants to seek COL expertise and support. OVF has successfully developed the first Open Digital Village in Africa and the world; the Winneba Open Digital Village (WODiV). This is the flagship and proof of concept for a more ambitious franchising effort called the Open Digital Village Network.
