The hallmark of empirical research is the data presented together with a careful definition and description of the data and of the conditions under which it was gathered. It is essential that enough information is given to enable replication by others. Of course, it is not enough just to have data. We need a clear grounding in the literature and a purpose: what questions could we expect these data to help answer?
