It is very different at different times of the year. As you discovered it is pretty cold and gray in the winter. The trees in Central Park don't have any leaves in winters so they are just bare sticks and branches. Did you feed the ducks? Did you see anyone skating on the ice rink in the middle of the city when you were there? In the summer New York can be hot and humid but all the trees are green and shady.
