Reflection
WikiEducator is an efficient tool to translate the notion of Freedom into practical applications. It helps to elimiate the barriers to education, making it more accessible to a larger number of people. It really contributes in shaping a new world of collaboration and sharing. It's the beginning of the end of the notion that "information is power" and that the more one controls information the more one controls power. I see the WikiEducator activity as that of a candle: on sharing its light to other candles, the original candle's light doesn't diminish but on the contrary the room becomes more illuminated. I have joined the WikiEducator group to be part of this wonderful happening. This reminds me of one of the poems of Rabhindranath Tagore, the famous Bengali Poet:
“Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high; Where knowledge is free; Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls; Where words come out from the depth of truth; Where tireless striving stretches its arms toward perfection; Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the dreary desert of dead habit; Where the mind is led forward by Thee into ever widening thought and action; Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.” |
