My Reflection

Feedback

I participated in the online session of WiziQ yesterday i.e., 9th May, 09 at 9 p.m. Nellie conducted the session. It was quite exciting. I would like to attend more such sessions so that all our doubts are cleared.

My experience as a workshop coordinator

I happened to be the coordinator for the L4C34 workshop organised by Dr Gita Mathur. This was my first experience as a coordinator though I had been part of the organising committee of some seminars. It was a memorable experience. I was also requested to start the workshop with a prayer; I think this is the first instance when a coordinator herself sang the prayer. All those present were taken for a surprise. Then I had to conduct the workshop, welcoming and introducing speakers, see through all the three days and finally give the vote of thanks. Our organising committee consisted of Dr. Sheela Kumari, Ms. Arshmeet Kaur and Ms Romita Popli in addition to the two of us. Everyone worked hard before the workshop (making all the required arrangements) and during the workshop in a highly cooperative and loving manner. I really enjoyed working with them; it is always comfortable to work with like minded people. The credit for the success ofthe workshop goes to the whole team. Cheers!!! Organisers!!! The hands on sessions were filled with fun. The participants were our own colleagues and everyone felt at home and we did have some lighter moments too. It may be surprising to know that even learning the wikieducator syntax was fun. Patricia had put a box on everyones page and when one participant inserted her photo; lo and behold!!! all participants had the same image in their page under their name.

Soon after they registerd, messages were sent by Patricia and Anil;this gave them the taste of collaborative editing. They were all so excited that they were no less than kids. I enjoyed their company. We enjoyed being together all the three days. We also posed for a lot of photographs.

How I became a wikieducator

It just happened that Dr. Gita Mathur of Botany Department wanted to conduct a workshop on open educational resources and she wanted that I should assist her in making arrangements vis a vis the computer lab, internet etc. I straightaway said yes because I have known her for quite a long time. Then she told me about Wikieducator and its advantages and that she had become a Wikibuddy in a very short span of 3 months. I had always wanted to have my own page on the web which my students could refer to. Though we learnt a bit of using Front page long back it wasnt very fruitful. Wikieducator gives me an opportunity to create such a page and I am really excited about it. I think this workshop which is going to be held between 12th and 15th of Jan. 09 will be of considerable help to me. Like everyone else who joins such a group, I also have my apprehensions about my text being edited (meddled with) by others. And it did happen to me soon after opening my page but it was not done intentionally but it occured by mistake. The resource persons in the workshop will be able to clarify my doubts, I feel.
