More than one organization in copyright?

Yes it's somewhat confusing. My understanding is that we only attribute the latest in line, which would nominally be Saylor, However, I've received raw files from WS-OCL for upload and there are some differences as the Saylor HTML version underwent some minor changes. I've tried to capture those but haven't done a line for line comparison. So we are collecting from both. Wayne was involved in initial discussions with WS and I'll see what he thinks.

Its a good question :-)

Irwin is correct that we would normally attribute the latest in line as Saylor in this case should have correctly attributed the original source.

However in this case (for ethical reasons) I would attribute both organisations with appropriate wording. Eg Course adapted from Saylor & Source files provided by Washington State.

For OERu course components I'm proposing:

  • A copyright page for the key component resources, using the copyright template created for this purpose. See for example this copyright page for the AST1000 course guide. (You could include a 2nd template on the copyright page of your corresponding resource for the 2nd Washington State attribution.
  • Note that the navigation template TopicsWithSubpages includes a note parameter for inserting a link to the relevant copyright page.
  • When uploading the text for the first time -- Say copyright Saylor with link with resources from Washington state.

(Comment.gif: Please Ignore my comments about including the copyright page with the resource and copyright link in the Navigation template - -I see you already have this covered :-). So just a second Copyright template for Saylor recommended on that page.)

That should cover it :-)

I added a second copyright box to attribute to Saylor.org, in addition to Washington State. Not sure which should go first, or if it matters.
