DISCUSSION POINT 1

Kindly confirm if all have submitted their assignments. Where did you upload it - EDS or via email to team members?

(Comment.gif: Status>> Discussion closed.)

Victor.mensah (talk)07:18, 9 March 2009

Lions I have drafted a Statement of Work, which in part should be used to track and monitor rolesa and responsibilities over assigments, and track the due dates versus the dates of completion. I would urge the team to use the document. The Assignment Leader should ensure that it has been completed. Infact this in part will help us achieve our objectives for group assignment 2.

JEREMIAH CHAPHXANYA (talk)07:21, 9 March 2009

Yes - Shumi & Utang submitted Definitions on EDS ie Questions 2 & 3

--Shumimlingo 18:22, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Shumimlingo (talk)07:22, 9 March 2009

Still behind hoping to finish today. My apology to all Lions

Hove (talk)07:23, 9 March 2009

Thanks for that Hove. Any indication of when you will manage to finish. >> this question also goes to all who have not submitted.

Victor.mensah (talk)07:28, 9 March 2009

--Kay go 18:35, 8 March 2009 (UTC)i haven't submitted anything yet i was tasked with displaying what i've learnt and providing the conclusion, so i needed all your contributions. i have since received all of them today i should be in a position to contribute by tomorrow latest.

Kay go (talk)07:35, 9 March 2009

DISCUSSION POINT 2 >> Definition of Diversity and diversity management

Any comments on the contributions provided by members on workplace diversity, diversity management, etc? Kindly givee you comments on the contributions you have read from members

(Comment.gif: Status >> Discussion Clossed)

Victor.mensah (talk)07:34, 9 March 2009

I am fine with the contributions - and ok with the sources provided, which in my view is key.

Little typos will be corrected as part of quality review.

JEREMIAH CHAPHXANYA (talk)07:40, 9 March 2009

the contributions are fine, but let hermanus take a look at the references to make sure it is line with SBL standard.

Akachi Ngwu (talk)07:45, 9 March 2009

Hermanus, Kindly take note.

I think we need to be highly critical of our contributions such that our final assignments will be without any deviations which might be caused by myopia and lack of positive criticism.

Hove (talk)07:54, 9 March 2009

It's also important the final edited copy is made available by Wednesday, what do we think?

Akachi Ngwu (talk)07:56, 9 March 2009

Hi - some constructive critisism from me. If need, we can talk individually later tommrrow on the points below

Victor - I have no problem with the content. Just a couple of housekeeping issues as follows: 1.“Practicalises” – Is this correct?...I could be wrong. 2.“There is not disability access policy and several of its structures remains to be tested” – Typo’s

Luisa 1. The first 3 articles do not state which companies – The names of the companies and a one liner background on them would help a reader.

Akachi 1. Got confused by the heading – “Contribution to Question 4 of MBL911K Assignment.” I evaluated it based on Question 4, which may be incorrect. This is a different question right?

Shumi/Utang I found some typo's on ours as well! - we will ammend. Final Referencing details to be completed.

Conclusion - Just a thought to keep in mind - are we sure this is a 70% - 80% assignment as we agreed at study school?

--Shumimlingo 19:00, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Shumimlingo (talk)08:00, 9 March 2009

Thanks Shumi.

Yes COMSEC has no Diversity Policy Document. The organisation however has not beeen challeenged in any issuee of diversity either in the Commonwealth Tribunal or any law court.

Victor.mensah (talk)08:06, 9 March 2009

--Kay go 19:02, 8 March 2009 (UTC)the definitions are okay, though i thought we do not have much evidence of workplace diversity, from the COMSEC background, i reckon we need more statistics, e.g in 1971 COMSEC had 53 member states a workfoce of 200 employees and 40% english, 20%indian 15%Ghanain 25% Canadian etc, at the time the head office was in London and only two regional offices, one in New York and another in Zambian. Now in 2009 we have 437 employees 30% english, 15% indian.... 5 offices one in each continent. i think that will attract more marks. otherwise all i could sense was "COMSEC's spirit is willing but the flesh is weak" the potential is immense

Kay go (talk)08:02, 9 March 2009

I will look into this. The staff streength of COMSEC mighte actually havee dwindled, but i will get some stats there to improve it.

DISCUSSION POINT 3 >> Benefits of Diversity and Literature Review

Your comments on the benefits of Diversity in the workplace as well as the literature supporting it which we presented. Guys, i want hard scritinizing comments from you - not just its "ok".

(Comment.gif: Status >> discussion clossed)

Victor.mensah (talk)07:53, 9 March 2009

The topic discussion did not have sufficient flesh. If you reference you should expand further and that will show your understanding of the topic. Please kindly quote and expand from you have quoted!

Hove (talk)08:01, 9 March 2009

i think we have a disconnect here. members are not submitting the assignments on time so as to to enable complete digesting of members contributions. moving forward, we must adhere strictly to deadline. the literature as presented does represent contextual framework. we need to link diversity to conceptual and contextual framework.

Akachi Ngwu (talk)08:02, 9 March 2009

Your proposal please

Victor.mensah (talk)08:08, 9 March 2009

more research and reading wrt litratures on diversity and management of diversity

lions,

i have less than 15 minutes online. iam using a cybercafe, there are about to shut down for the day

Akachi Ngwu (talk)08:39, 9 March 2009

--Kay go 19:12, 8 March 2009 (UTC)i thought point 1 and 2 were similar...the points need to be expanded on and applied more to the selected Organisation.

Kay go (talk)08:12, 9 March 2009

Lions

I browsed through this one and cannot contribute well right now. Will go over it again and send comments directly o he authors. On face value it looked well written and well edited --Shumimlingo 19:13, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Shumimlingo (talk)08:13, 9 March 2009

That's good. Perhaps throughout tommorrow, meembers can come back here is still provide feedback after reading the documents throroughly. Is that a good suggestion?

Victor.mensah (talk)08:17, 9 March 2009

Just read hermanus contribution now. he did a good work on the benefits of diversity.as i said we need to strictly adhere to deadlines. it will positively improve our assignments and marks.

  1. 'All things equal' lets do our best to have all the input and the final draft out by end of day Monday (tommorrow). Quality control was supposed to begin its work today....but the draft 1 still is not in place. Further delays will place quality control under pressure.
  2. Factor in todays contributions in your section and if in doubt make contact with whoever made the suggestion and finalise it together.

That's it from me guys. --Shumimlingo 19:38, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Shumimlingo (talk)08:38, 9 March 2009

--Kay go 19:40, 8 March 2009 (UTC)i agree it certainly was more productive (what is the EDS Lions' diversity policy, i sensed a lack of oestrogen today amongst other things) thanks alot for harmonising WIKI meetings Victor, thank you to all who contributed on time, point noted Akachi.

Kay go (talk)08:40, 9 March 2009

Kudos to victor for the success in today's meeting. it was very orderly and organized.

pls guys we need to be very strictly with deadlines so as to properly review members contributions properly.

Our progress so far is encouraging but we need more effort on the part of everybody.

let have the first draft copy out 2moro, hope shungu and victor can facilitate this.

Take care guys, wishing everyone a successful week ahead.
