 Hi Ramesh!

I'm using now this feature to answer the question you left in my page about the Monte Alban abandonment. Nobody knowns by sure what happened in Mesoamerica at that time, but many cities were abandoned. Some as early as the 6th century BC, others as late as the 9th century BC. All those cities were from the Classic Period. The first ones abandoned were in Central Mexico and the last ones in the Maya Area. Most scholars think that the demise was initiated by an ecological problem: the climate changed, rains failed, maybe because overpopulation; and then popular revolts and mass migrations from North of Mesoamerica finished destroying those proud cities. Something to think and ponder now with planet warming! History is a great teacher but sometimes we don't like the lessons and we close our ears and minds. Have a nice day.  Álvaro --Zapoteco 18:08, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
