OER type - what sort of OER is this?

- textbook

- background reading
What is in this list is part of a bigger discussion about the OER Foundation's definition of OER and the metadata to go with.
Ontology is Overrated: Categories, Links, and Tags http://shirky.com/writings/ontology_overrated.html
After reading this, WE is probably best served with a few formal categories like those in the metadata template, and unrestricted user tags as two separate things. Need to make the distinction obvious because they may need to be maintained and searched separately.
Great template! This is a wonderful start.
The lists of examples and suggestions for information are great. These will help "rationalize" the entries.
It would be good to have some suggestion lists for more of the information. These many need to be separate lists, maintained outside the template and linked. This will encourage other template-builders to use the same lists of entries.
When there aren't suggestions, people just make them up. In general, it is easier to select from a pretty good list than to just have to make something up.
Eg. country - I initially put in US which came up as a new link, so I tried United States which is a link. Do we have a list of country names someplace?
