For the WikiEducator Community, a little bit about the project. We are University of British Columbia graduate students in the Master's in Educational Technology project. One of our tasks is to research learning technology ventures that use Open (i.e. content, data, resources, code, etc.). We thought that WikiEducator would be the best space for our content as it will live beyond our program, and it will also introduce our broader cohort to a global community of educators contributing their expertise collaboratively.
Please note that the page is of course free for ANYBODY to contribute to, so please add to our structure if you feel you have positive contributions.

Thanks Wayne, it is great to hear. I am really a big fan of what Wikieducator is doing, and am happy to contribute and help perhaps drive more users to the project.
On a related note, my school is very interested in building out a Wiki, and while we have already started one (wiki.greenschool.org) I am feeling in part that to expand the reach of our curricula it would be ideal to use a site such as WikiEducator... if you have a moment it would be great to talk about this in more detail.
Sure - happy to have a conversation. Pop in to chat.oeru.org. There are pros and cons with self-hosted versus community wiki projects and you need to assess the needs for your school and what works best for you.
Community projects mean better support - but you will be restricted by community values. For example, the Wikieducator community applies free cultural works approved licensing, which for example would restrict embedding of video players that do not meet open standards and or appropriate licensing whereas your school may be less concerned about these issues.
I did notice your wiki does not have a default license - so you will want to have a discussion about that before you project grows too big.
Of course any educator is free to participate on WikiEducator - or any other of the great open community projects.
As we approaching our development process as an agile emergent design, I am now wondering if every subpage should have the kind of activity listed on it, so that participants are reminded that they can add, edit, discuss, etc. What do you think?
Also, in the introductory Background Open Everything pathway, I was wondering if we want to add a constructivist element to get a baseline of learner knowledge and make them aware of what they know so they can measure what they subsequently learn from our Open Venture wiki?
Yes, absolutely! I think that a quick intro video tutorial should go on our frontpage, and then we can reference this video in future sections.
Wondering if anyone has come across a taxonomy for the Open movement - an all of the interrelated components...?
Hi! I think this will be a tough find, since Open is conceptual, not something that exists with a structural framework. (Ps. I looked and could only find taxonomies for individual concepts e.g. open science).
Hi Erin, Thanks for looking, I saw the Open science image that was added, it is great. You are right, taxonomy for Open is the wrong type of classification system. I do wish there was a way we could create some type of classification, or image for Open Everything in general. I am reviewing the Open Education Section, and we have at the top, Open Educational Resources, under which is Open Courses, and others. I wonder if we are confusing the issue with the ranking or headings. I think this is a minor point, and not one I am hung up on, just food for thought.
This actually might be a good question for the community - can the Open Venture Innovation categories be categorized differently? i.e. should Open Pedagogy exist within Open Education? Other ideas...?
Noan, saw your note about doing a video to get people engaged quickly. Great idea. While I think the learning curve to participate in the wiki might be steep, it immerses our cohort into open practice and open content/OER. Briar
Yes... I have the video. I will upload it this morning, and then add a link to the "activity template". I played around with embedded video and it was really a lot harder than I thought. Then again, I have rarely had the chance to watch video through Wikipedia. I wonder if that will change in the future?
