Even translating software user interfaces is regarded as more complex than this section suggests. For example, the following might be relevant:
- Back-translation (a technique used to check quality of translations)
- Accreditation of translators - may become important when a community of translators does the job.
- Tools
- Software UI translation:
- poedit
- KBabel
- Launchpad's translation tools
- gtranslator
- Pootle,
- etc..
- Content translation (often built into the framework/CMS, e.g. ...):
- LinguaPlone (a Plone add-on product)
- etc.
- Software UI translation:
How many of these tools and techniques could be useful for OER translation? What cautionary notes/caveats are relevant wrt auto-translation tools? etc.
