Link to prior learning

As we have briefly discussed, due to our choice to not require prerequisite / order of module this is an example where the learner may not have learnt the terms required to respond to this stimulus. For example scope and stakeholders. Do we point them back to IPM102 here, provide a simple context definition, or refer them to the previously identified reading in the textbook

Your call. If I were a learner I think I would prefer "provide a simple context definition" as it does not break the flow of the course.

Carolct (talk)06:17, 3 December 2016

I agree that is a learner-centric solution and not to break the flow of the course Carol.

Should we separate out client and stakeholder?

Great idea to incorporate this quiz.

For example, stakeholders would include future buyers, local council regulators, neighbours, all of the above etc.

If we decide not to include an additional quiz item. I think we should delete "stakeholders" from the stem of the existing question. It creates confusion.

I think the responses should be widened to include a wider group of individuals and an all of them response added.

The question might be amended to:

Whose opinions on the new kitchen should be considered

This would also remove confusion about distinguishing between stakeholders / clients

Ophil (talk)14:28, 29 November 2016

Have amended that question

Page purpose

The purpose of this example, case study is to trigger ideas for what needs to be considered when selecting a project for the micro-course

Carolct (talk)08:50, 2 November 2016

I'm not sure that the current content achieves this goal without additional narrative provided. Coming across this while checking (with a learner hat on), it was not immediately clear that the purpose articulated here was going to be achieved.

External resources opening in new tab/window

Can the video open in a new tab or window (rather than taking the user out of the OERu course)? I know there are differing opinions on whether this is a good thing or not… Am not sure if OERu has any unwritten ‘rules’ around it.

Hi Claire On the website it will run inside the page. Just doesn't do that in the wiki.

Notes from page

Insert video activity: DIY project https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-Ehl-PJ9kY&feature=youtu.be

  • Ask learners to identify the characteristics or key components of a project
  • Include a few leading questions, eg:
    • What is the scope of the project?
    • Who is the client / stakeholder of the project?
    • What are the resource constraints?
    • What are the objectives of the project

Provide feedback, on the following for example (could be a quiz):

  • Focus - Be clear on priorities and scope of the project (gardening versus kitchen)
  • Who is the client? Ben, Jannet or both? Selling on?
  • Resource constraints. Lack of experience in PM, DIY, can only work on weekends
  • Project objectives: Complete in a month;

Integrate WENote post - What does Jen need to do? What are the next steps.
