Assessment iDevice

Hi Heather,

Please will you change the activity idevices for activity 6 through 8 to assessment idevices. I feel that we have not clearly differentiated between activity and assessment. If there are any others that you consider to require change, please do so.

Many thanks. Leigh (talk)18:48, 1 October 2009

Done - also changed a couple of in other modules (Summary and Writing a Report) to assessments. H

Bibliography links

Can I just check that all the links in the various bibliographies have been checked for usage rights? As they went up after our discussion on what is ok to use I'm assuming this has been done. If not, please let me know and I'll check them. This means checking that the rights allow linking to the page - this is not a given! Many thanks H

I know its a lot of work Heather (so sorry) but I think it might pay for you to go through and check them all. Between the four of us we could all think one of the others has checked it and could get in hot water. Or we could all take responsibility for a couple of modules. Don't want to over burden you Let me know what you think. I'm happy to help T

That's cool, I think I'm there. I've been through and deleted anything in the bibliographies I'm not sure of. It is simpler if we are linking to the sites rather than copying text etc. Thanks for your offer! H

Amalgamation of activies.

Hi there,

I suggest an amalgamation of the first activity (and questions) with the activity just underneath (and relating) to the layers of the rainforest.

Thanks, Leigh (talk)20:40, 28 September 2009

sure T

Whaeatina (talk)22:14, 28 September 2009

Done, I think ;-)

Hi Tina,

What is a diorama, I have never heard this term before? Please will you explicate this in the teacher notes if you haven't already done so.

Many thanks. Leigh (talk)20:35, 28 September 2009

Rainforest map activity

Hi This seems to fit under the heading "where are rainforests" rather than above it, I'm happy to move it as it fits with objective two, rather than objective one. H

Hi Heather - sounds good! Thanks. Leigh (talk)12:37, 28 September 2009

Social constructivism

More thought needs to be put into making activities that construct knowledge in social groups or social contexts. This seems to be the one that needs the most attention

I have added in summary a return to context and KWL to keep our 'problem' current in the minds of the learners

Hi Tina,

I completely agree with the above comment - there is no consistency with the pedagogy throughout this unit. I also find that there are no instructions that accompany a number of the activities. Please will everyone look at the activities they have done, and add instructions so that the activity is clear to both the students and the teachers i.e. is this group work, should the questions be answered after reading the content etc. Also please will those who have created activities check that they align with the chosen pedagogy - Tina your expert help will be appreciated here.

I don't see how a comprehension or reading through content and answering a couple of questions, comprehension-style, fits either into PBL or Social Constructivism... Do you people agree? Also this leaning towards PBL needs to be further emphasized throughout this unit.

Tina, I appreciate you keeping a close eye on all activities to see that they match the pedagogy.

Kind regards, Leigh (talk)19:18, 27 September 2009
