Your own Organisation
Educational Institutions and Organisations have strategies and priorities to enable them to operate effectively in a frequently changing wider environment. There are a variety of forms of documentation outlining the focus, goals and plans of organisations providing guides for staff to collectively move towards and achieve the required goals.Various forms of documentation include:
Mission Statement: “Describes what an organization is, what it does and what it stands for. …explains the purpose of the business.” [1]
Vision: “describes what the organization wants to become- its future identity – which can be realized through the successful accomplishment of its mission.” [2]
Strategy: “A strategy helps an organization realize its mission and brings its vision to life” [3]
Policies: The set of basic principles and associated guidelines, formulated and enforced by the governing body of an organization, to direct and limit its actions in pursuit of long-term goals. [4]
Within an organisation all of these impact upon your role as a tertiary educator.
