TE REO MAORI 11F (Full Year) - MAO11F

PRE-REQUISITES
Year 9 and/or Year 10 Mäori.
CONTENT
This course aims to develop students’ communication skills in te reo Mãori. Students will work to improve their skills in four main areas; writing, reading, speaking and listening.
ASSESSMENT
Total of 22 credits, including the literacy requirement as set out by the Ministry of Education. Students will be assessed for four achievement standards. The listening and speaking assessments are internal. The reading and writing standards are external assessments. Three of the four standards are worth 6 credits - one standard is worth 4 credits. There is recognition given to skills and knowledge at three levels of expertise – whiwhinga – achieved, kaiaka – merit and kairangi – excellence.
