CLASSICAL STUDIES 21F (Full Year) - CLS21F

PRE-REQUISITES
This new subject which begins at Year 12 caters for students of different abilities and educational backgrounds. To be eligible for entry, students need to have achieved in either Level 1 History, Geography or English.
CONTENT
Classical Studies is an inter-disciplinary study of ancient Greek and Roman culture.
Topics include:
- Greek mythology
- Homer’s Odyssey
- Roman social life
- Art of Pompeii and Herculaneum
ASSESSMENT
Level 2 Achievement Standards consisting of 10 internally and 10 externally assessed credits.
A further 4 external credits may be offered.
COST
$15.00 for printed material plus possible field trip expenses
FUTURE POSSIBILITIES
The course provides an excellent background for further study at Level 3 and beyond, not only in Classics but also history, art history, English and philosophy. It can also be of general interest, providing cultural enrichment, improving literacy and helping develop communication, research and analytical skills.
