CHEMISTRY 31F (Full Year) - CHE31F

PRE-REQUISITES
14 credits in Level 2 Chemistry including Achieved or better in Achievement Standard 2.1 (Quantitative Chemistry).
CONTENT
This course is a study of the structure, physical and chemical behaviour of materials and extends the knowledge and skills acquired in the Year 12 course.
Topics include:
- organic compounds
- solutions, acid and alkalis
- atoms and energy changes
- reduction, oxidation and batteries
- analytical chemistry
There is a strong emphasis on practical work.
ASSESSMENT
Total 15 Level 3 Achievement Standard credits - externally assessed and 7 internally assessed.
A further 6 credits using Unit Standards and internally assessed Achievement Standards are available.

FUTURE POSSIBILITIES
Year 13 Chemistry provides a useful background for tertiary studies in the sciences, engineering, medicine, agriculture, horticulture and forestry.
