AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERING 22F (Full Year) - AUT22F
TEACHER IN CHARGE: Mr Case and Mr Hill
NB: The practical component of this course is compulsory.
PRE-REQUISITES
Students will be selected on the following criteria:
- Ability to complete the course
- A proven record of attendance
- A genuine interest in the Automotive industry
- Attendance at an interview conducted by the Training Manager
CONTENT
This is a full year pre trade motor industry based programme.
The course is assessed by unit standards and covers:
- Motor Vehicle Systems and Components
- Electrical units and batteries
- Workshop equipment
- Automotive trade structure
- Occupational Safety and Health (OSH)
This course is co-ordinated by Avon City Ford - Sockburn and Papanui High School. The units are self-paced and require individual study.
ASSESSMENT
Up to 20 Level 1 and 2 credits
Assessment will be competency based on theory and practical work. Avon City Ford Training Services use Southland Polytechnic Unit Standard work booklets.
COST
Course costs will be covered by STAR funding – students will be asked to contribute to other associated costs, to be advised at the start of the year. Students will be expected to provide own stationery - $10.00 toward the cost of each Standard Booklet. Total approximately $80.00 over the year.
FUTURE POSSIBILITIES
Completion of this course will assist students to enter the automotive industry and/or related courses.
