Basic user level corresponds to A2 in the Common European framework, or the Distance learning level 4 course. The relevant wordlist is the one for Cambridge KET, see the teacher's guide pages. Basic is even simpler than Simple English, these are examples where a common word appears in Basic and more unusual forms of it in Simple:
- grow - growth
- suddenly - sudden
- nationality - national
