Mike, welcome to WikiEducator. Seems we both live on small islands... mine. brent 10:31, 19 February 2007 (CET)

Greetings Chief Mike

Glad you popped in to say hi - I see a link to olpc, are you doing any work here? --Mackiwg 18:52, 19 February 2007 (CET)

OLPC -chat

I agree - I think that there is a lot that can be done to enhance accessibility. Tried your link - but the server might be down - will try later again.

I worry about the cost of the OLPC - put in context this is about 25% of the per capita earnings of, for instance the average Kenyan adult. Yes, governments are supposed to be financing this - and then there's the real world. That said - folk like us can do our bit to promote success in the field. One thing that OLPC is doing, is getting away from the rhetoric that the developing world must use legacy technology because they don't have access to IT. I find no reason why anyone should be denied the right to participate as an equal contributor in our information society - or am I dreaming? --Mackiwg 17:11, 20 February 2007 (CET)

Hi Chief Mike - managed to see one of the cached - pages. Server is still out of action. I'm on international assignment for the next 2 weeks - connectivity may be a problem. Would like to compare notes when I get back. We're doing quite a bit of work in capacity building for free content in Kenya, and I wanting to extend this for teachers. --Mackiwg 18:07, 21 February 2007 (CET)
