Week 1

Introductions

  1. Copy the list of questions in your notebook
  2. Turn to your partner and ask the following interview questions:

Discussion Questions:

  • Do you have any pets? What sports do you enjoy playing?
  • Whose your favorite sports team? What’s your favorite color?
  • Who is your favorite musician? What is your career goal?
  • What is one problem in your neighborhood/community that you would like to solve?

Word Story

  2. Next write a Word Story using 6 positive words that describe you

Assignment Build something using certain materials. Meanwhile, the students observe while writing the instructions on how to build the object Next another class will read the directions you wrote. The other students then have to attempt to create the object with the directions only. Be sure to include if-then instructions The If-then statement represents debugging especially when a mistake is made For example, “If all the red ornaments are off the tree, then begin with the blue ornaments and start the process over,” Write down any mistakes/errors that are made. Debug the problem by explaining what needs to be changed or done differently
