Content Management Systems
Content Management systems allow users to use an online database to store and manage information. They are usually written in a Server side progrtamming langage like PHP (Open Source) or ASP.NET (Microsoft), and forms are used to add, change or delete information.
- Wordpress has gone from being a Blog system to one of the worlds largest content management environments particularly for web site development
- Wikipedia uses a CMS called MediaWiki
Learning Management System
A Content Management system used to handle Educational content is called a Learning Management system. Two systems of note are
- Moodle (the LMS used by EIT and called EITOnline) and
- Blackboard
