Coping with large volume of information.

One of the challenges that is faced by the user of the Internet is the large amount of information that is beckoning to be accessed. Each webpage is linked to many others, and soon the searcher finds that he has travelled a long way from home, finding interesting things, but not achieving the objective of the initial journey.

What is the solution? Yet there is no one solution that is suitable for everyone. What are the general principles to be observed? This age of information availability, has become the age of information overload. The great challenge is to develop a system that is able to cope effectively with all the excessive information available, but which needs more than a lifetime to be accessed. How can it be done?

Hi Leslie,

I see the underpinnings of your interest in the categories workgroup <smile>. I see this issue of information availability/overload as the on-going struggle of the years to come and believe that the ease of access and collaboration is destined to change the educational landscape in a most fundamental way. And I hope it doesn't take too long.
