For your Individual Project you will take everything you have learned about HTML5, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and web development, and put it all together. For the Project assignment, you decide how much you know and how you can show that. These are individual projects - you submit your own work.

Project requirements

  • Create a web site with 3-5 pages - Your project submission can be a single page with multiple sections to represent content pages.
  • In a new source code file, use the appropriate HTML5 and Cascading Style Sheet elements and tags to demonstrate the layout, content look and feel, and navigation for your web site.
  • Consider the overall objective and visitors' needs.
  • Demonstrate site navigation.
  • While it is important to demonstrate the elements and tags within your page, the final result must be attractive, functional, and accessible.

Online collaboration experience

  • Collaborate with a small group. In addition to doing your own project work, use the small group discussion for sharing your work, asking and answering questions, Groups are automatically assigned. This is an opportunity to try online collaboration. Working together in a small group usually is more interesting and produces better results.
  • Group work tutorial - Surviving Group Projects - Your chances of survival increase if you work together. Follow the steps to success for the strategies and tools to do that. Your mission is very goal-oriented. Use the tips and take-action steps to help your team create a high-quality project. You can't escape it! Get ideas to prevent and deal with common problems.
  • There are points for group work. If you work alone, you forfeit the points for the group collaboration experience.

Create a Portfolio Site

Developers, designers and writers each have different skills and work to display, but they all have one thing in common: they need to sell themselves to potential clients. You want potential clients visiting your site and instantly thinking, “I want that too!” It’s your virtual showroom, which prospective clients can even show others when they need to convince someone else.

This Create a Portfolio Site article outlines all components of a professional portfolio site.
