Learn something new every day.
“Why fit in when you were born to stand out? ... And will you succeed? Yes you will indeed! (98 and 3/4 percent guaranteed.)…With your head full of brains and your shoes full of feet, you’re too smart to go down any not-so-good street…You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And you are the one who’ll decide where to go.” - Dr. Seuss

What do I have to do to be prepared for lifelong learning in a technology enabled world?
Everyone talks about the importance of lifelong learning and how technology is a driving force. Education reform is long overdue. Students everywhere but here are getting a better enducation. Everyone needs twentieth century skills to participate in the global ecomony. But what are these skills and how to get them?
There is a lot of interestin teaching and learning in general. Some of the research finding are being implemented with new STEM initiatives, problem based learning and collaboration. These skills are essential to personal success. However, there isn't much direct instruction or practice in learning and practicing these skills.
Some of the basics skills are stilll the same. Get organized. Plan ahead. Play nicely with others. Build relationships through respect and cooperation.
Technologies are constantly changing in support of these. But sometimes, a good think, an honest coversation and a piece of paper are the best tools for the job.
In general, learningis about being open to new ideas, different ways to do things, adding to prior knowledge and finding personal satisfaction with accomplishments and positive strategies for solving problems and making the world a better place.
