Introductions

A Day in the Life of Social Media - This link was chosen by the group because it represented how society is becoming more in touch with social media. Also, the video encourages people to invest themselves in the media to allow them to benefit from being connected to their society digitally.
Did You Know 4.0 - This link was chosen because it uses the information to foreshadow a future where society is linked closer to the technical world than it is today. The video also has information on how society can use technology as a tool to do more than those without it.

Privacy and Freedom of Speech

The Cyberspace Charter of Rights - This link was chosen because it serves as a sample of what a list of rights for those that access interactive network areas. This link promotes allowing all that access to receive and obey the listed measures to keep integrity within the users’ community.
Internet Censorship - This link was chosen because it informs the readers about what internet censorship is and countries that have adopted it. The article also includes information methods used in censorship and ways users have to maneuver around the blocks. 

Intellectual Property

YouTube Copyright School - This link was chosen because it is easy to follow and learn from. The video uses comedy and cartoons to demonstrate how copyright can be infringed and but also gives the viewer advice on how the can avoid infringing on copyrights.
10 Big Myths about copyright explain - This link was chosen because it educates the reader on common confusions about copyright. This site is an aid for those that are not sure if they are infringing on copyright and clear us misconception about the issue.

Crime

5 Computer Hacks from Movies You Won't Believe Are Possible - This link was chosen because it allows people to learn what is a real life possible hack and what is a fictional hack designed for viewer impact. The link is interesting and informative of attacks that technology makes possible in real life. 
Cyber Crime - This link was chosen because it incorporates the element of mutual interactivity for the purpose of placing a stricter watch for crimes committed digitally. This site teaches the reader about cybercrimes that exist today and allows people to contribute to stopping these crimes. 

Employment, Education and Entertainment

Jobs are evolving, not becoming obsolete - The article discusses how technology plays a role in how jobs change. It discusses the changing of how specialized the jobs now must be. The market is constantly changing and it will be interesting to see how technology plays a role in the way the job market goes. This was chosen because it was representative of both education and employment and how it changes as technology changes.

21st Century Education - The YouTube video presents statistics and predictions about 21st Century education and how it will prepare students for 21st century careers. We choose this video because it is a visual representative way to show the statistics of what it truly means to have an education in the 21st century.

Midterm - Millennium Development Goals

NASA Medical Pills - This site includes an article about a new scientific breakthrough in form of a carbon biocapsule that will be able to provide astronauts with medical care while in space. These pills may be used to administer chemotherapy locally instead of throughout the body for cancer patients. We choose this site because the idea of causes the reduction of diseases and other health issues plays a role in many other Millennium Development Goals. This site is a representation of a culmination of those goals.

Mobile Technology for Community Health - Improving maternal health. It discusses how things such as mobile phones can help with the sharing of information of ways to improve maternal health. It can be as simple as sharing information with mobile technology which can help. We choose this video because it is important in that simple things such as mobile phones can help so greatly in neonatal care and maternal health. Gadgets for a healthier lifestyle

Evaluating and Controlling Technology

Computer Security Authentication - This article discusses different processes that can be used to protect other people from gaining access to privet information by use of passwords and finger print scanning. We choose this article because passwords and similar things have been around to help control technology and are useful in our everyday lives.

Judging The Reliability of the Internet - Introduces simple and concise information about the reliability of a site on the internet. We choose this article because it seemed to be the essence of what we are trying to look for in terms of how we evaluate technology. It is essential to this class to deem if anything is worthy of having credibility.

Risks, Failures and Responsibilities

Safe texting campaign - The site talks about how to use other technology to hep cut down the amount of texting and driving. It uses technology to fight against another form of technology. It is a type of GPS technology that can detect about how fast you are going. It will let the person you are texting know that you are driving and that it might be some time before you can reply. We choose this article because texting and driving is an important subject which is related to all of us in this class and is a huge risk which is technology driven. It is an incorporation of technology and one of the greatest safety risks that people face today.

Computer Errors allows violent California prisoners to be released unsupervised - Demonstrates the dangers of computer errors. This site is important because in an age of technology this one error caused monumental consequences. We choose this article because it demonstrates the huge risks and failures that come from the dependence on technology.

Anytime, Anywhere

A Desk Too Far? - This article explains what remote working is and provides and analysis of its benefits and pitfalls. Remote working is valuable to those individuals who don't need to go into work to get their tasks done although there are many people who are not yet suit for it. Technology provides us with a sense of mobility where we could simply do things by the "anywhere, anytime" motto.
Wi-Fi Tether - This link demonstrates a Google feature that allows the user to share their smartphone network connection via Wi-Fi tethering with a Wi-Fi enabled device. Wi-Fi tethering provides a network connection to Wi-Fi enabled devices such as other smartphones or laptops. The tethering feature that's available in many smartphones today enable users to use their laptops anywhere thanks to their smartphone's HotSpot. People are no longer tied down to coffee shops, home, or work networks to access the internet.

Technology Advances, Social Trends

32 Innovations That Will Change Your Tomorrow - This article discusses new advances in technology that we should expect in the future. The new advances range from underwear that tells you to work out more to computers where the screen is the whole room. These new types of technology are important and some people believe that they can have a key role in our lives in the future.
Meet the future of medicine: an ingestible microchip that monitors your medications - This article is about pills that contain digestible microchips that have the ability to send data through a slight voltage. The data can be read with a smartphone to indicate whether or not the pill was digested. By doing so, doctors are able to monitor whether or not their patients are really taking their medication as directed. In addition, patients won't have to struggle with remembering whether or not they took their pills.

[1] Marshall Soulful Jones performs "Touchscreen" from Discussion Computers and Society Websites. This is a poetry reading about how technology affects us as individuals. It is a great summary of many different technological influences.

[2] Video "A Day in the Life of Social Media" from Discussion Computers and Society Websites. This video shows a day in the life of social media. It has a huge impact because it really puts things in perspective. It is a great summary of how computers are impacting the world.

[3] Video "Education and the Future of Technology" from selected media. This video has different statistics which are representative of the influence of technology in peoples' lives across the world. It is important for setting the stage for how far technology has come and gives an idea how much further it can go.

[4] Video "Did You Know 4.0" from Discussion Computers and Society Websites. Similar to the other videos, this gives statistics about many unknown facts about technology. It gives comparative aspects which are helpful in giving perspective.

[5] Document "Academic Integrity, Copyright, Fair Use and Plagiarism" from selected media. This is a page about the definitions of plagiarism and Copyright. It is important because it gives the guidelines for some important legal areas which users of technology have to deal with now and will always have to deal with.

[8] Article from selected media. This discusses the First Amendment and how it protects freedom of the press. It discusses the history and how it is affecting us now. It is important to understand the way freedom of speech works in written form and how this relates to the privacy of the individual in relation to technology.

[9] Article from discussion privacy and freedom of speech keywords about how the lack of knowledge people have on freedom of speech. Important in that it really shows how many people know very little about the rights they have concerning freedom of speech.

[10] Wikipedia article from the privacy and freedom of speech discussion about censorship. Censorship is a huge part of freedom of speech because it is important to know what is being restricted. It is important to understand the role censorship plays and if the ways people are being censored are helpful or hurtful.

 •[11] Article "10 Big Myths about Copyright Explained" from selected media. This article puts the common misconceptions about copyright out there which many often confuse. It is important that people realize what copyright is truly about as it relates to taking other peoples' ideas.

[12] Article "Copyright and Fiar Use" from selected media. It too discusses different aspects of copyright that most people do not understand. It is another contributing factor in helping to cut down on maintaining intellectual property.

[13] Video "A Shared Culture" from discussion Intellectual Property Keywords. This video discusses creative commons. It is a concept that is not always easy to grasp and this video does a great job explaining this concept.

[14] Video from John Maeda about the influence of computers on art. It is from discussion Art and Computers. This is an important video because as the use of technology has changed, the affect on art and the intellectual property of the artists is changing too.

[15] Site from selected media. This site has many past predictions about what the future of technology would hold. It is interesting to see the differences and compare how these have contributed to the ideas which are under jeopardy for having their intellectual property taken.


Crime

[16] Article "Cyber Crime" from selected media. This article discusses how people must defend themselves against cyber threats which pose a risk to people because of the developing crimes associated with technology. There are always new ways people are committing crimes and technology is a new way to accomplish them.

[17] Article "How To Tell if Your Computer is Infected" from selected media. It discusses the ways in which a person can quickly tell if they computer has been hacked or a virus has taken over. It is important because this is a huge crime with computers today and detecting it means a person can get rid of the virus before too much of their information is taken.

[18] Article "Computer System Will Help Crime-Solving" from discussion computers and crime. This is an older article but it notes when computer archives for fingerprinting came into use. Clearly this of huge importance because it keeps fingerprints which can then be compared which allows criminals to be found much easier with this technology.

[19] Article "Roommate in Rutgers webcam case gets 30 days" from discussion computers and crime. This is a case about a roommate using his webcam to illegally spy on his roommate. Through the use of technology this crime is easily committed. It is an instance where crime is evolving from technology evolving.

[20] Article "Internet Fraud" from selected media. This article discusses how to detect internet frauds on the internet. It gives tips to avoid it in certain cases which helps users understand the difference between frauds and real buyers. People who commit fraud are dangerous to all of those who use computers and it is important that everyone can identify the signs.

[21] Video "Brenda Brathwaite: Gaming for Understanding" from selected media. Brenda Brathwaite designs games and these take things which have happened in our history and turns them into games form which people can learn. It began when her daughter discussed a difficult topic with her and Brenda wanted to incorporate that learning with something that people can have fun with and learn from.

[22] Video "David Weinberger- Internet and Society 2007" from selected media. David Weinberger from Harvard University delivers a speech about how the internet affects society. It discusses how we don't truly understand the technology that we now have and the progression we have had with the internet. It is the idea that the internet is the collection of all of the knowledge that we as people can contribute.

[23] KQED site about mobile learning from discussion Employment, Education, and Entertainment Keywords. This site has different blogs about changes in education and reasoning behind why we did or should make the change. Technology influences the classroom greatly as kids are typically the generation which grow up with a new developing technology.

This article looks to how technology is influencing education in this generation. It discusses how technology influences and dictates the skills people now need to succeed in their career path.

It discusses how things such as mobile phones can help with the sharing of information of ways to improve maternal health. It can be as simple as sharing information with mobile technology which can help.

It begins with the tools they need and this allows their businesses to expand. This is more than just primary education expansion but an expansion on the empowerment of people throughout developing countries.

[31] Article from selected media. Sebastian Thrun of Stanford has been looking into technology which would allow cars to drive themselves. This would mean taking cars out of the hands of drivers and into the hands of the technology controlling them. It is no doubt that in the future cars will clearly have this ability.
