Background

I the Univesity Librarian, formerly Director of the Directorate of Distance Education and senior lecturer in library and information studies, at the University of Zambia. My academic qualifications are: Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Distance Education, Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS), and Bachelor of Arts with Library Studies (BALS). I have been lecturing at the University of Zambia since 1991. During the period I have been Assistant Dean of the School of Education, I have acted as Dean of the same school. I have been Head of the Department of Library and Information Studies and acted as Director of Distance Education.

Areas of interest

My areas of interest are:

1. Information communication technologies (ICTs) and their application in informationn management and dissemination as well as in management and delivery of distance education.
2. I have taught and researched in various aspects of information management and the use of ICTs in literacy and community development.
