Hi I'm Shona.... welcome to my home page.

Professional background

I have recently returned to New Zealand after spending many years living in Britain.

I worked as a Training Analyst for the British Military and enjoy writing, analysing and assessing training cadres/courses for a wide demographic. I now work for a great company called Symbiont based in Paraparaumu not far from Wellington. We specialise in providing exceptional training and resources for adults using distance, online, paperbased and blended learning.

Education

I scraped through High School by the skin of my teeth, and then went to Secretarial College at Polytech before continuing with my studies later in life. I hold a Psychology Degree and a Diploma in Terrorism Studies.  I am looking to undertake further study in the near future, and the following fields interest me:

My interests

Professional

Professionally I am interested in creating online training resources for a wide demographic, it seems educational design is a specialist art and I have found there are not many courses to take the basics to an online platform.  I am also looking forward to creating and designing blended learning with embedded literacy and numeracy, and gaining more qualifications in the educational (and teaching) sphere.

Personal

I am a qualified marksman, I love tramping, photography, salsa dancing, red wine and travel.

I have also been a Buddhist for 18 years (studying the Mahayana Tradition).

• I registered for eL4C41, a Learning4Content workshop to learn wiki skills.

My optional community service (learning contract) project

Agreement	By signing this optional learning contract I will try to complete my training in basic wiki editing skills to achieve the status of a Wikibuddy. In return for this free training opportunity, I will give the gift of knowledge by donating or developing at least one free content resource licensed under a CC-BY-SA or CC-BY license which can be used by myself (and others) on WikiEducator.
