- 1.1 Doc Martin, as he is called by his colleagues, graduated Doctor of Medicine at the Far Eastern University. He took his postgraduate internship at the San Juan de Dios Hospital and went for residency training in combined Surgical and Clinical Pathology at the Makati Medical Center. He continued on a subspecialization in Electron Microscopy (EM) at the same institution and had special training on Electron Optics at the National University of Singapore and at the University of Science and Technology in Hongkong, China. He has attended post-graduate seminar-workshops on EM techniques and Renal Ultrastructural Pathology at Duke University, North Carolina and New York Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, New York respectively. He is now, by choice, a scientist doing research involving EM. He coordinates some data bank projects and the Training Course on Tropical Medicine as part of the Academic Cooperation Program with Nagasaki University. He is current Managing Editor for the St. Luke's Journal of Medicine.
