    • Literal Meaning: Don't insult what someone does if you don't fully understand the root of their actions.
  • Adhabu ya kaburi aijua maiti.
    • Idiomatic Translation: The torment of the grave is known only by the corpse.
    • Literal Meaning: Only the one in trouble knows the full measure of his situation.
  • Adui aangukapo mnyanyue.
    • Idiomatic Translation: When your enemy falls down, pick him up.
    • Literal Meaning: By our shared humanity we are compelled to help those in trouble, be they friend or enemy.

CHINESE PROVERBS

  1. (yí jiàng gōng chéng wàn gǔ kū) (one+general+accomplishment+succeed+myriad+bones+dry up)
    • Literally: Tens of thousands of bones will become ashes when one general achieves his fame.
      Meaning: A great person needs others to sacrifice themselves to build his success.
    • Moral: Before admiring someone's achievement, remember to look at the negative effects that he had delivered
    • Compare: To make an omelette you have to break eggs
  2. (shí nián shù mù, bǎi nián shù rén)
    • Literally: Grow a tree for ten years; grow men for a hundred.
      Meaning: Nurturing and educating human talent is the key to prosperity.
  3. (pinyin: yǒu qián néng shǐ guǐ tuī mò)
    • Literally: If you have money you can make the devil push your grind stone.
    • Note: English equivalent: When money talks, bullshit walks.

JAPANESE PROVERBS

  1. Anzuru yori umu ga yasashi.
    • Literally: Giving birth to a baby is easier than worrying about it.
      Meaning: Fear is greater than the danger. / An attempt is sometimes easier than expected.
  2. Baka wa shinanakya naoranai.
    • Literally: Unless an idiot dies, he won't be cured.
      Meaning: Only death will cure a fool. / You can't cure stupidity.
