My name is Hassan Mhelela. My friends call me Gegedu, a nickname that has stuck since I was a teenager. I'm not going to reveal what it means, for now at least!

I'm Tanzanian, and I'm from Dar Es Salaam. I work for BBC World Service as a Producer, mainly of radio and online content. To simplify things, let me say I'm a journalist without borders.

I've been in the game for well over 15 years. I'm currently based in Dar Es Salaam, where I manage BBC's local operations.
