I think this goes here?
Global issues and tech solutions:

  • No/poor internet access 3rd world countries
Potential Solution: Satellite internet, but maybe needs crowd funding?
  • Not much visibility/ways to call for help for survivors of catastrophes
Maybe need HAM radio or some other kind of low-bandwidth/low power communication method
Should we send something like radio transmission equipment to catastrophe areas  so they could create their own radio stations?  Would anyone else listen or be interested?  Thinking of example of Puerto Ricans who are still without basic necessities what, 3 years, later?  I'm sure they are not the only ones.  But we don't hear about them very often
  • Electricity hard to get for survivors of catastrophes
I wonder if Tesla's underground power transmission system could be resurrected?  I know there are corporate and political obstacles for that, but still…  I think power companies could switch from a model of selling power to selling equipment to distribute and pick up the power.  They don't seem to manage the infrastructure for selling the power very well, at least they could get out of that business and switch to something maybe they would be good at.
  • Plastic pollution - lack of ways to recycle (we have been sending our garbage overseas, so we obviously need to be able to do it ourselves)
    • Cheap/easy to use plastics replacement?
    • How about the avacado seed company?
    • This still leaves technology waste, so that needs to be addressed as well…
  • No/Difficult to get real job training for low-income people (Americans included)
What are their actual needs?  Is there some kind of volunteer system that could be implemented to pass knowledge from the average person to jobless?
  • Hard to find jobs even for industries that supposedly have higher demand than supply (America included).
Is there a way to create a job-matching system that works better than current platforms?  It would need to include pointers to ways to train up for any missing job skills.  Maybe also testing so employers could verify skills and let potential applicants know where they need to improve before they could be hired.
  • 3rd world job issues
    • Connecting people to jobs that pay better than awful
    • I know there are people who do micro-loans for some people in 3rd world countries - like $50 which actually helps them get a business up and running there… I'll find the articles I've read and post them here
  • Alternatives to payday loans for people who won't scam the system and really need help
Maybe microloans similar to GoFundMe, but maybe similar for investors to a CD or 401K - kind of low interest rate,  low-ish risk, but still helps people who need it.   If you could pitch in $50, and know that it would help one person 1) get clothes needed for interviews, 2) get haircut for interviews 3) get resumes printed, and maybe help for 1 month to get to work before their first paycheck, but then they could pay back the investors, wouldn't that be rewarding?  You wouldn't have to shell out a lot, but someone's life could be improved because of it. There are a lot of logistics and potential pitfalls, but I kind of suspect it is doable.
  • Is there… A knowledge-base (so not corporate or ad-driven) site that aggregates real issues and asks for help or expertise for real solutions? So average people could chip in and help?
  • Health coordination
    • I've seen people with major issues need an advocate and coordinator so their doctors collaborate instead of working against each other without even knowing it.
    • The patients also could use a customizable tracking tool for their health issues so that the doctors have evidence for their plan instead of vague recollections of symptoms and issues.
